Hi, I’m Becky McEwen, an artist and illustrator based in Napier, Hawke’s Bay.
Art has always been a way for me to slow down and really notice the small details that make a subject unique. Through my portrait work, I aim to capture not just a likeness, but the personality, warmth, and character that make someone or something special.
I specialise in hand-painted and hand-drawn portraits, most often of beloved pets, but I also create portraits of people, meaningful places, and special objects. Whether it’s celebrating the joy a pet brings to everyday life or honouring a treasured memory, each piece is created thoughtfully and with great care.
All of my work is created by hand using professional Golden acrylic paints and Faber-Castell Polychromos on quality 360gsm paper, ensuring every artwork is unique and made to last.
For me, the most rewarding part of creating commissioned work is knowing that a piece of art can hold so much meaning - becoming something that is treasured for years to come.
